BARRO
FEST 2023: Close encounters of the Cucuá type in El Valle de Antón in Panama in
January
The Cucuás of EL VALLE de Antón make contact with the aliens of ROCK for a huge Board of Embarre. In its fourth edition, the famous rock festival with a Panamanian mud board will take place from January 27 and 28, 2023 in the Valle de Antón in the province of Coclé.
One of the traditions of the mountains of the Coclé province in Panama is the cucuá dance, very different from the typical dances seen in other parts of the country. This dance involved four men from mountainous towns such as EL VALLE de Antón who called themselves "devils" and whose rank was acquired according to age.
The dress used for the dance ceremony appeared to be made of animal skins; however, it was made with a material obtained from the bark of the cucuá tree (also known as ñumí) and painted with natural dyes: the yellow color was obtained from the saffron root; from the leaf of the guamí plant, the copper color; and from the deer's eye leaf, the color black.
El Barro Fest 2023, a music festival that fuses the mud board with 'indie rock', but that in this edition adds the tradition of the Cucuás who make contact with the extraterrestrials of Rock!
El Barro Fest, according to the organizers, is a music festival developed by a group of Panamanian entrepreneurs since 2017, inspired by the power of the community spirit that the traditional party known as "junta de embarre" and the independent rock scene have. The second edition of the Barro Fest will take place on January 27 and 28 in the paradisiacal town of EL VALLE de Antón where the tradition of the "Diablicos" Cucuá is followed, well known throughout the province of Coclé and where, according to the promotion of the festival, it contacts with aliens who come from space to play ROCK & ROLL.
The "Junta de Embarre", which is a piece of Panamanian cultural heritage that is in danger of disappearing due to the absence of generational replacement.
The public will be able to choose between different lodging alternatives in EL VALLE de Antón. The festival will also offer a camping option for the more adventurous, with designated spaces within the festival grounds.
Later,
the organizers will officially launch the fourth version of this prestigious
festival now in EL VALLE DE ANTON. The entire program will be available soon
through the official website of the event www.barrofest.com
